A letter for Barack Obama

Hello sir,

I do not know whether you are going to read my message or not, however, there is nothing wrong with trying. I just wanted to show you my support. I’m a girl from the Middle East and thinks that you are AWESOME. See, I don’t want to get into the whole ‘getting troops out of Iraq’ debate or the Israeli Palestinian clash; I would like to try to forget our issues and focus on you as a symbol of America.

My father thinks that America has no democracy that’s why you are not going to win and he also thinks that you won’t make a difference because the American policy has always been the same, violent he means, whether the president was democratic or republican! You don’t need to really care about what he is saying, I do believe that it’s his infection for Chomsky and Ginsberg that makes him talk negatively about anything American and analyze it according to the conspiracy theory! To me, I do believe that America is a democratic country and if the results of the elections were negative to this or that group of people, that doesn’t mean that there is no democracy! Democracy is a system and the results reflect a picture of the American mentality. Democracy means that there is no gun pointed to my head while I’m voting!

When I see you on TV, images of good people come to my mind. I recall Martin Luther king junior, Malcolm X, and Louis Armstrong. I recall Bob Dylan, Tom waits, and others. You represent America that I imagined, the diversified America, the ‘fun’ America, and the ‘heaven’ America!
It will be a big loss for America not to choose you, there will be no similar copy of you in the coming future, and there will be no chance and right timing like now to present such an American icon like you.

Sir, build more hospitals in America more than sending weapons to the world. Mention the word ‘peace’ more than the word ‘war’. Listen to rap singers complaining from their rough life more than listening to other politicians bullshitting. Grow flowers more than destroy houses. And always change yourself to the better before you change others.

Sir, consider this message as a message from a human not from a girl, a Middle Easterner, or any other label. America is the policeman of the world; we are obligated to deal with it and to let our destiny between its hands, so I hope that you will be the one who moves its hands gently and carefully.

Best wishes,

P.S. >> I know that you are not a Muslim, and I don’t really care : )
